Local Supports & Resources
Updated Oct 2017
For Children and Families
What to expect: Fun for families of Two-Spirit, trans, and gender creative kids in Gr. 7 or younger. First hour as collective play/fun time together, second hour will have a facilitated parent support space.
Wednesday Support Group
What to expect: An opportunity for parents of trans, gender non-conforming, and two-spirit children (of any age) to find connection and general support. Facilitated by a trans person and a parent (on a rotating basis). Note: This group is for parents/caregivers only, but there may be childcare available onsite or subsidies for childcare.
*NEW* Sunday “Topics” Group
What to expect: Based on parent feedback, each month we will have an opportunity for families to connect over particular topics. At times this may include ‘closed’ sessions for families who are impacted by the particular topic of discussion (ex. experiences of families of trans-feminine youth and trans girls). We’re also lining up childcare volunteers who can hang out with your little ones in the library area.
Counsellors and Psychologists
Ambit will be hosting a list of “community endorsed” information here shortly. In the meantime, we recommend contacting Trans Care BC’s Care Coordination Team (1-866-999-1514) – an excellent resource for youth and families around the province.
