Two-Spirit
Winkte (30 minute video)
Winkte – Kai Potts shares about his experiences as a winkte (Two-Spirit person of Nakota Sioux background). Through storytelling and sharing cultural teachings, Kai shows how English terms, concepts, and worldviews fail to describe the gifts and medicines that winkte bring to the world.
Gender as a circle (3 minute video)
Watch gender as a circle on Facebook

Aiyyana Maracle is a Sovereign Haudenosaunee transformed woman, artist, scholar, and writer, and speaks about gender as a circle (rather than a spectrum or binary). (this is a facebook video and may not be embeddable)

Trans Brilliance

I highly encourage you to seek out and share examples of trans brilliance so that young people in your circles can envision futures they are a part of. Some I follow are:
- Artist and activist Alok Vaid-Menon’s instagram – I don’t know anyone who has been able to listen to only one interview / podcast / speech by Alok, and not immediately want to seek out more. They speak poetically of joy, grief, the unrelenting beauty of existence.
- Comic artist Sophie Labelle’s instagram – Sophie has an incredible capacity to crystallize complex concepts into really clear and understandable art, and has content for youth and adult audiences.
- Kai Cheng Thom – An amazing poet, author, and activist. Kai Cheng has several books, the newest of which is called Falling Back In Love With Being Human. This article, 8 Steps Toward Building Indispensability (Instead of Disposability) Culture, is also fantastic.
- Erin Reed – A journalist following anti-trans legislation in the US and beyond. I’ve found Erin’s content to be a very useful resource, especially in dispelling myths around trans medical care for people of all ages.

Trans Care BC
Trans Care BC has an abundance of general information about what gender-affirming care can look like and the different paths a person may take on their gender journey.
Gender Spectacular
Gender Spectacular is an excellent support for parents and caregivers of Trans, Non-Binary, Two-Spirit, or otherwise gender diverse children and youth.
