Ambit presents at Victoria’s first DisruptHR

I had the honour of presenting at Victoria’s first (of what will surely be many) DisruptHR event. This event, which was organized by Engaged HR, is described as “an information exchange designed to energize, inform and empower people in the Human Resources field,” and calls on presenters and attendees alike to re-imagine the rebellious future of HR!

At this sold-out event that had Legacy Art Gallery filled to capacity, I have to admit that I was a mix of excited and nervous! If you haven’t heard of DisruptHR before, it’s a PechaKucha-style event – the rules are that each speaker gets 5 minutes, to present 20 slides that will give the audience a fresh and compelling new take on a topic. Oh, and the slides change automatically every 15 seconds!

I chose to talk about our collective responsibility to create a world where trans, non-binary and two spirit people need not choose between being safe and being visible. All around, speaking at DisruptHR was a wonderful experience! We laughed, we cried, we experimented with new analogies…
